Normal mucus is essential to keep airways open and free from infection.This article introduces the manifestations of mucus abnormalities,the similarities,the differences,and the research progress of mucus hypersecretion in different chronic airway diseases,especially the concept of muco-obstructive lung disease proposed recently.Understanding the characteristics and mechanism of mucus hypersecretion in different chronic airway diseases will help us better understand the occurrence and development of the diseases and promote the development of new diagnostic and treatment methods.
