The Kaiyuan Temple South Site is situated on the south and west sides of Kaiyuan Temple’s current location in Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. It is an ancient-modern-superimposed city site spanning from the late Tang to Ming and Qing Dynasties of about 12,000 square meters. In 2016,the Hebei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics excavated a house foundation(F5) within the site. F5 is a rectangular on-ground building with three rooms, sitting west to east. A drainage channel was found west of the northern secondary bay, but no remains such as doorways, kangs( bed-stoves), nor stoves have been discovered, and many artifacts scattered on the walking surface and stacked in groups. Unearthed artifacts are high in quality and rich in types such as porcelain, pottery, liulis( colored plumbic-glazed wares), bronzes, bones, stones, etc. Porcelains are most, and white-glazed and green-glazed liuli incense burners are first found in Zhengding and even the Hebei area. The excavation indicates F5 should be of the Jin Dynasty, and its inferred nature is a street shop.
