“海纳百川”之后,应如何?——刍议古远清先生的华文文学观及其新著《世界华文文学概论》

古远清先生的新著《世界华文文学概论》一书,体现了他一以贯之的思维敏锐、举重若轻的学术功力。该书观点新锐、文笔轻盈,系统阐述了一种开放、包容的华文文学观。该华文文学观与杜维明等海外华人学者全球性、世界性的“文化中国”情怀一脉相承。特别值得一提的还有古远清对“境外华文文学”概念的认同,这一概念既不像“台港澳暨海外华文文学”过于冗长,又避免了“世界华文文学”的“名不副实”。“境外华文文学”是一扇中国大陆与香港、澳门、台湾暨海外社会进行文学、文化交流的窗口,也可作为与中国大陆文学与文化发展相对应的重要参照系。

An Introduction to World Literatures in Chinese, Mr Gu Yuanqing’s new book, reflects his academic skill at his best and his consistent sharpness of thinking. With cutting-edge views and brisk penmanship, the book gives a systematic account of his views of literatures in Chinese that are open and encompassing. His views correspond with the global and worldwide view of Cultural China of others, such as Tu Weiming and other overseas Chinese scholars. What is especially worth mentioning is Gu Yuanqing’s recognition of the concept of literatures in Chinese outside China as it is not as lengthy as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao as well as Overseas Chinese Literature, or as misnamed as the World Chinese-language Literature.Literatures in Chinese Outside China is a window on the literary and cultural exchange between Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas societies and can also serve as an important reference for comparisons with mainland Chinese literary and cultural development.
