大学英语拓展课对学生国家意识的建构——以“旅游英语”课程为例

On the construction of students′ national consciousness in extended courses of college English:Taking Tourism English as an example

以“旅游英语”拓展课为例,在国家意识的视角下从国家认知、国家认同、国家责任与国家期待四个维度深入挖掘课程中的国家意识元素并对课程进行重构。基于前期教学实践探索,从旅游六要素“吃”“住”“行”“游”“购”“娱”出发,探讨国家意识元素如何有机融入教学设计与实践,探索大学英语拓展课如何以语言文化性规约构建大学生的国家意识。学生在教师的引领下,不断接触旅游六方面的国家意识元素,然后通过分组任务的形式,逐渐深化对国家的认知,增强家国情怀与民族文化自信,认识到自己肩负的国家责任以及保持对国家的合理期待,以提升其在跨文化交际中讲好中国故事的意识与能力。

Focusing on Tourism English, one of the extended courses of college English, this paper, from the perspective of national consciousness, aims to explore and reframe the elements of national consciousness in this course from the dimensions of national cognition, national identity, national responsibility and national expectation. Based on the prior pedagogical research and practice, the paper introduces how these elements, extracted from the six facets of tourism activities, such as dining, accommodation, traveling, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment, are integrated into the teaching design and practice, with a view to discussing how language and culture in extended courses of college English stipulate the construction of national consciousness among college students. Students are guided to be faced with different ideological-political elements in the six facets of tourism, and then they, by participating in various tasks, will gradually deepen the national cognition, consolidate their emotional attachment to the nation, strengthen cultural self-confidence, realize the burdens on their shoulders and hold a reasonable expectation of the country, which will be conducive to strengthening their ability of telling Chinese stories in the intercultural communication.
