[Purpose/significance]In recent years,under the background of the great development of new types of think tank,platform think tanks with Chinese characteristics have constructed their multi-functional platform operation mechanism based on the concept of platform development,showing a vigorous development trend.This trend has important significance and value for the future development of new think tanks in China.[Method/process]This paper analyzes the reasons,paths and types of platform think tanks with Chinese characteristics,then analyzes their conceptual connotation and characteristics,and finally discusses the problems and development direction of platform think tanks.[Result/conclusion]The development motivation of platform think tanks with Chinese characteristics conforms to the development trend of the times and meets the needs of the country to improve its governance capacity.With the rise of the Internet industry and the great development of the sharing economy,platform think tanks will lead China’s new types of think tank into a new era of development.
