Wang Zuoliang as My Mentor

20世纪80年代,王佐良先生先后开创了《外国文学》和《文苑》两种学术刊物。在他生命的最后十五年,王先生不仅主编这两个学术刊物,还完成了《论契合》《英国文学史》等36部力作,培养了一批又一批硕士生、博士生。本文作者作为王先生的研究生和助手之一,深情回顾了先生主编外语期刊的才智、著书立说的执着与培养人才的热情。王先生的言传身教让作者终生受益。

In the 1980s Professor Wang Zuoliang founded Foreign Literature and Wen Yuan.During the last fifteen years of his life,he not only edited the two journals,but also published 32 books and directed numerous theses and dissertations.As one of his assistants,the author reminisces about the years he worked with his mentor,admiring the ability and wisdom Professor Wang had for editing the journals,the diligence with which he engaged in scholarship,and the passion with which he cultivated the younger minds.Wang’s legacy has benefitted the author throughout his career.
