1927年问世的戈公振名著《中国报学史》,其第一章绪论第二节“报纸之定义”近乎完整地翻译了日本学者藤原勘治《新闻纸与社会文化的建设》第二章“新闻纸的本质”的第二节至第五节。戈氏此举有违“学术规范”,是他拘泥于“学”而付出的沉重代价。然而瑕不掩瑜,尽管存在问题,戈著的贡献巨大,并非同年代其他新闻学论著所能比拟。

“The definition of newspaper”in History of Journalism in China(《中国报学史》),which was written by Ge Gongzhen and published in 1927,is nearly a complete translation of the works of Japanese scholar Fujiwara Kanji.Ge’s violation of“academic norms”is a heavy price paid for sticking to“xue”(学).However,despite the problems,the contribution of this masterpiece is still enormous.
