清朝中后期以来,随着中国对外开放的不断加深,中国与海外世界的接触逐渐增多。位于东南亚且地理位置重要的新加坡成为这一时期中国的重点关注对象。对于新加坡地理方位的记载、英国殖民当局对新加坡的统治、在新华侨华人的生活状况、晚清中国官方与新加坡建立外交关系及双方交涉等多方面成为清朝中后期新加坡相关史料的重点记录内容。

Since the middle and late Qing Dynasty,with the deepening of Chinese opening to the outside world,China's contact with the foreign countries gradually increased.Singapore which located in Southeast Asia with an important geographical position became the focus of China's attention during this period.The records of Singapore's geographical position,the rule of the British colonial authority over Singapore,the living conditions of local overseas Chinese,the establishment of diplomatic relations between Chinese government and Singapore in the late Qing Dynasty and bilateral negotiations have become the key historical records in the middle and late Qing Dynasty.
