生态翻译学视域下《论语》理雅各英译本探析

Analysis of English Translation of the Analects(《论语》)by Legge from the Perspective of Eco-translatology

理雅各《论语》译本是最具影响力的《论语》英译本之一,对儒家思想在西方的传播起到了重要作用。以生态翻译学视域为观照,选取理雅各《论语》英译本中的经典译例,从语言维、文化维、交际维三个方面,探讨译入语和译出语之间的转换机制,从中亦可窥探出理雅各的翻译风格和策略。对语言维、文化维、交际维进行适应性选择转换,能在一定程度上促进译者与作者、译者与读者以及译者与目的语语言文化的和谐共处,使得异域文化语境中的受众能够产生与源语受众比较接近的积极心理反应。

The translation of the Analects of James Legge,one of the most influential English translations of the Analects(《论语》),has played an important role in the spread of Confucianism in the West.With the perspective of Eco-translatology,the classic examples in the English translation of the Analects(《论语》)are selected to explore the conversion mechanism between the source and target languages from three aspects:the linguistic dimension,the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension,from which the translation style and skills of Legge can also be found.The adaptation in these three dimensions can,to a certain extent,promote the harmonious coexistence between the translator and the author,the translator and the reader,and the translator and the culture of target language,so that the audience in the foreign cultural context can produce a positive psychological response similar to that of the source language audience.
