时代与艺术家的关系是艺术史上的基本命题之一。历史的具体场景是复杂而多变的,思想与现实、意图与环境、实践与情境之间存在着持续性的互动。艺术史让少数人获得个人声望,多数人则会默默无闻。而从社会与历史的层面来看,这些人正是主要的历史行动者,他们的经历并非无足轻重。他们能够而且事实上改变了文化与历史的样貌,他们应当在历史上被记上一笔。本文以吴夔这一被艺术史书写所忽略的艺术家入手,以此来考察艺术家如何为时代形塑,并力图还原其艺术轨迹及艺术史地位。

The relationship between the times and artists has been one of the primary subjects in the history of art.History is complex and unpredictable in its specific situations with constant interactions between theory and reality,purpose and environment,and practice and circumstance.In the history of art,fame belongs to the few,while obscurity is the fate of the majority.From the social and historical perspectives,the majority are the ones who created history and their experiences are everything but pointless.They are capable of shaping culture and history and,in fact,they have been doing so.Therefore,they deserve to be remembered.This article starts with Wu Kui,an artist neglected by the history of art,to examine how artists are shaped by their times and specify the artist’s career trajectory and status in the history of art.
