Several Questions about Huang Pu’s Preface to The Biographies of Famous Intellectual in Fujian

综合有关史料、方志、诗文及今人研究成果,考订明代弘治年间重刊本《兴化府志》存有晚唐黄璞为其《闽中名士录》一书而作的自序文《闽中名士录序》的真实性,探讨《闽中名士录》的立传动因、传录对象、传录内容、立传目的、传录体例及其史学价值。

Based on the literature on the ancient Huang family in Putian and relevant historical materials,local chronicles and poetry,this paper reviews the authenticity of the self-made preface to The Biographies of Famous Intellectual in Fujian written by Huang Pu,which is included in The Chronicle of Xinghua Prefecture during the Reign of Emperor Hongzhi of the Ming Dynasty.Furthermore,it explores the causes and purposes of biographizing those people,the contents and styles of the biographies as well as the historical value of writing the book.
