Five key paths to inherit the first generation of storage buildings in 1950s:renovation design of Shenyang Dongmaoku Warehouses

沈阳东贸库是成立后的第一代仓储建筑,在城市更新时代,它由一座不适宜于民用功能并受文保制约的小开窗、大进深、木结构仓库改造为社区日常公共文化生活设施。通过回顾改造过程中的五个关键路径,总结此类设计决策过程中重要的立场、观点和方法,为同类建筑的改造提供有益借鉴。

Shenyang Dongmaoku Warehouses is the first generation of logistic architecture in 1950s.In the age of urban regeneration,the main problem related to such kind of historical buildings enlisted in the preservation is how to convert a logistic building,with few wall fenestrations,deep space and timber structure,into an ordinary one with typical daily functions.This article is to recollect five critical paths in the course of the design by documenting important stances,principles and methodologies in terms of decision making,in order to summarize useful experiences per reference for similar projects.
