摘要
为了研究设计发展过程中艺术与技术的关系问题,文章追溯到十九世纪工业制造高度发展的英国,通过分析当时的社会背景和莫里斯在建筑、平面的设计实践,解读他对技术的矛盾态度及前后设计理念的转变,并阐明其设计美学思想。研究发现莫里斯的矛盾主要在于对机器、维多利亚风格的厌恶和对手工艺的忠实信仰,他设计实践的核心是机器与手工艺的融合。正是这种艺术与技术相结合的理念为现代设计提供了全新的预言并引发了人们的思考。
In order to study the relationship between art and technology in the process of design development,this paper traces back to Britain,where industrial manufacturing was highly developed in the 19th century. By analyzing Morris’ s design practice in graphic and architecture,it interprets his contradictory attitude towards technology and the change of design concept before and after,and expounds his design aesthetics. It is found that Morris’ s contradiction mainly lies in his aversion to machines and Victorian style and his faithful belief in his opponent’s craftsmanship. The core of his design practice is the integration of machine and handicraft. It is this idea of combining art and technology that provides a new prediction for modern design and triggers people’s thinking.
