Yangzhou Chaoguan,located at the intersection of the Grand Canal and the Yangtze River,is a typical tax outpost throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties. A large number of Chaoguan archives produced in the course of government official activities are very objective and practical,and are the primary data reflecting the management mechanism and the rise and fall of Yangzhou Chaoguan in Qing Dynasty. In the era of new humanism,it is of great significance to interpret and discover the value of Yangzhou Chaoguan archives in Qing Dynasty from the perspective of social memory for archival historical research,canal culture inheritance and social memory construction.
