英汉习语语义生成及其时空性异同

Semantic generation of English and Chinese idioms and their spatiotemporal similarities and differences

时空性研究目前主要集中在语言结构和语法形态上,观点有二:1)汉语强空间性与英语强时间性;2)英语或汉语时空同态。但是,到目前为止,从语义角度,还鲜有学者对此方面进行研究。本文从语义角度出发,通过英汉习语语义生成的跨空间映射,包括单域转喻映射、双域隐喻映射和多域概念整合映射,探究英汉习语时空性思维异同。基于分析与讨论,本文得出如下结论:1)汉语习语语义生成具有强空间性特质;2)英汉习语语义生成具有弱时间性的共同特征。

At present, the research on temporality and spatiality mainly focuses on language structure and grammatical morphology, with two viewpoints: 1) the spatiality of Chinese and the temporality of English;and 2) English or Chinese timespace conflation. However, there are few scholars to research from the perspective of semantics. This paper explores the similarities and differences of spatiotemporal thinking in English and Chinese idioms through the cross-spatial mapping of idioms semantics, including single-domain metonymy mapping, two-domain metaphor mapping and multi-domain conceptual integration mapping. Based on the analysis and discussion, the following conclusions are drawn: 1) the semantic generation of Chinese idioms has strong spatial characteristics;and 2) the semantic generation of English and Chinese idioms has the common feature of weak temporality.
