姚永概是桐城派晚期的重要作家,于诗歌一体最为称善。在清末民初深趋衰腐的国运面前,姚永概的家国忧患意识得以激发。其思想中所蕴蓄的忧患意识,借助其诗学观念得以彰显,寄托说便是这一持守的核心要义,亦即其诗学观念中最具价值的部分。这一观念同样在其创作中得以贯彻,其诗亦因此成为映照时代现实的一面鉴镜,显示出经世内涵,在见证桐城麻溪姚氏家族、桐城派诗歌的演进轨迹,反映晚近诗坛格局嬗变等方面,均有其参考价值。

Yao Yonggai is an important writer in the late Tongcheng School,and is best known for his poetry.In the face of the declining national fortunes of the late Qing Dynasty,Yao Yongqai showed a deep sense of family and national anxiety.The sense of worry embedded in his thought manifested through his poetic conceptions,and sustenance as well as truthfulness is the essence and the most valuable part of his poetic conceptions.This concept was also implemented in his writing.Yao's poems have thus become a mirror reflecting the realities of the times,showing the connotations of the world,and are of reference value in witnessing the evolution of the Yao family and the poetry of the Tongcheng School Poetry,and in reflecting the changes in the poetic landscape of the late modern era.
