Reflections on "Variation" in Folk Music and Ethnic Music

民俗音乐从最初无定式的口传心授与多少代人无数次的锤炼,产生很多变体,这些变体的“变体性”(即变体的社会适应性)越高,它被广泛传播的可能性越大,只有它适应性的变化,才会被认同。民俗音乐变体与“变体性”的存在,随着历史和社会的发展以及人类文明的不断进步而不断变化与消亡,民族音乐走向世界音乐,亦是如此。

Folk music has been handed down orally from the beginning in an amorphous manner and refined countless times by many generations. The higher the“variability”of these variants(i.e.,the social adaptability of the variants),the greater the likelihood that it will be widely disseminated,and only if it adapts will it be recognized. The existence of folk music variants and“variability”changes and dies with the development of history and society and the continuous progress of human civilization,and the same is true for folk music to world music.
