Literature as Metaphor of the World——A Comparative Study of Mo Bai and Borges

墨白最为服膺的文学大师是博尔赫斯,他的创作和博尔赫斯也存在诸多契合之处,二人都将文学视为世界的隐喻,都痴迷于对梦境和迷宫的书写。不同的是,博尔赫斯非常看重作品的哲性品质,他在写作中极力回避或隐藏自己的情感表达,并尽可能将故事置于一个虚拟的历史时空中,以便让自己讲述的故事成为一种普遍的程式;而墨白不愿如此超脱,他的故事深深植根于我们的社会、历史和文化之中。

Mo Bai admired Borges most and there are many similarities between his works and Borges’—both of them regarding literature as a metaphor of the world and being obsessed with writing dreams and labyrinths.The difference lies in that Borges attaches great importance to the philosophical quality of his works.He tries to avoid or hide his emotional expression in his writing,and tries to place the story in a fictitious historical space-time,so as to make his story a universal formula,while Mo Bai does not want to be so detached,and his story is deeply rooted in our society,history and culture.
