摘要 半个世纪以来,西方艺术史学界对李格尔的兴趣一直未减,他的一些报刊文章近年也被翻译成英文以扩大传播。其中,《作为现代艺术之内容的心境》被认为是他最著名的作品之一。虽然这是篇短文,却是李格尔成熟期艺术史方法论的一个缩写本与补充版,也是一篇面向艺术家与公众的奇文。该文的中心概念是“stimmung”(心境/情绪),它虽然是一个普通德语词,但又包含复杂微妙的历史语义,流行于19世纪末的维也纳。李格尔将它作为现代艺术意志的目标,在宗教信仰缺失的时代给观者带来精神上的慰藉。由于李格尔主要代表作的论述范围均在巴洛克时代及之前,所以通过此文我们可以了解这位学科创建者对于他自己时代艺术的观察与判断,更完整地理解他的方法论。 For half a century,the interest of Western art historians in Riegl has not diminished,and some of his articles have been translated into English in recent years to expand their dissemination.Among them,Mood as the Content of Modern Art is regarded as one of his most famous works.Although short,and besides being a remarkable piece of writing for the artist and the common reader alike,this essay may be regarded as an abbreviated and supplementary version of the methodology of art history that Riegl developed during his so-called period of maturity.The core concept of the article is "Stimmung" (mood),a common German word endowed complex and subtle historical semantics,popular in Vienna at the end of the 19th century.Riegl took as the goal of the will of modern art to bring spiritual comfort to the viewer in an era marked by the lack of religious beliefs.Since Riegl’s main representative works do all focus on the Baroque and pre-Baroque eras,this particular article will allow us to better understand Riegl’s discipline through his personal observations and judgments on the art of his own time.
