Objective The effect of sucking exercise combined with adjusting food viscosity on patients with stroke swallowing disorder in old age. Methods The elderly stroke patients who were hospitalized in our department from June 2020 to August 2021 were selected as the subjects of the study, and were randomly divided into observation group(n=35)and control group(n=35).The control group was given routine treatment and care, and the observation group adjusted the viscosity of the food according to the degree of the patient's swallowing disorder according to the basis of the routine care, and combined with the method of sucking to exercise while the patient was drinking water. The swallowing function was evaluated before and after the intervention respectively. Results After intervention, the total efficiency of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group,P<0.05.Conclusion The combination of sucking exercise and adjusting food viscosity was effective in restoring swallowing function in patients with stroke and swallowing disorders in old age.
