郭延礼先生长期致力于中国近代文学史课程教学、教材撰著与学术体系建构,专注于中国文学由古典到现代的转型研究,较早提出强化中国近代文学中的少数民族文学、翻译文学、女性文学“三大方阵”研究的理论构想,并将这一具有前瞻性的文学史理念贯彻到近代文学研究与文学史编撰实践之中。郭著《中国近代文学发展史》有着“守正出新”的学术品格,在中国近代文学史学史上具有典范性和标志性意义。郭著《中国近代翻译文学概论》《中国女性文学研究(1900—1919)》及其领衔主编的《中国近代女性文学大系》,则在中国近代翻译文学史、女性文学史和女性文学史料建设史上,具有填补空白的学术开创性与奠基意义。

Mr.Guo Yanli has long been dedicated to teaching modern Chinese literature,writing textbooks and constructing academic systems,focusing on the transformation of Chinese literature from classical to modern.He was the first to put forward the theoretical concept of strengthening the“three camps”of minority literature,translation literature and women's literature in modern Chinese literature,and to implement this forward-looking concept of literary history into the practice of modern literature research and literary history compilation.Guo’s exemplary and iconic work A History of Modern Chinese Literature,has the academic character of“developing new ideas while observing the rules”in the history of modern Chinese literature.His other works,such as An Introduction to Modern Chinese Literature in Translation,Studies in Chinese Women’s Literature(1900-1919),and his chief-edited work The Great Series of Modern Chinese Women’s Literature,are groundbreaking and seminal in filling the gaps in the history of modern Chinese literature in translation,women’s literature,and the construction of women’s literary histories.
