China’s Environmental Diplomacy in 50 Years:Development and Achievements

中国现代意义上的环境外交始于1972年6月参加联合国人类环境会议。50年来中国环境外交经历了初步发展、快速发展和深入发展三个阶段。在发展过程中,中国共谋全球生态文明建设的理论不断深化,在全球环境治理中的作用日益增强,区域环保合作实现机制化,双边环保合作成就显著。在新的发展阶段,进一步提升中国在全球生态文明建设中的引领作用,需要广泛宣传习近平生态文明思想的世界意义,积极履行国际环保协定,加大对外环保援助力度,提升全球环境治理的话语权。

China’s environmental diplomacy started at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in June,1972 and has experienced three stages of initial development,rapid development and in-depth development over the past 50 years.During the process of development,China has deepened its theoretical exploration of constructing global ecological civilization and played an increasingly important role in global environmental governance.Meanwhile,China has realized an institutionalized regional environmental cooperation and made remarkable achievements in the bilateral environmental cooperation.In the new stage of development,in order to further enhance China’s leading role in global ecological civilization construction,it is necessary to extensively publicize the global significance of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization,actively implement international environmental protection agreements,provide more aid to foreign countries for environmental protection,and strengthen our discourse power in global environmental governance.
