胡适白话文观建构中全面消解《官话圣经》译本影响的原因

在中国现代文学史上,新文化先驱“胡适”提出的“白话文观念”影响深远,不断推动着语言价值观念自觉转变及确立白话作为现代共同语地位的进程。值得注意的是,作为外来文明的研究者与积极引进者,胡适却在其口述自传及众多白话文理论著作中全盘否定并有意回避《官话圣经》译本对其白话文观形成的影响。这一举动不仅在学术界引起了不少的质疑和争论,亦为其后期的理论阐释制造了一定困难。那么,胡适的“这种选择”是否又有其自身不得不为之的特殊考量呢?文章尝试从胡适对于基督教文化内核的悲观态度、其“白话文观”建立的内在实用性要求以及《官话圣经》译介的复杂流变历程与自身局限几个角度进行分析。

In the history of modern Chinese literature,the“vernacular concept”put forward by“Hu Shi”has a far-reaching influence,constantly promoting the conscious change of language values and establishing the status of vernacular as a modern common language.It is worth noting that,as a researcher and active importer of foreign civilizations,Hu Shi completely denied and intentionally avoided the influence of the translation of the Mandarin Bible on the formation of his vernacular views in his oral autobiography and many vernacular theoretical works.This move has not only caused a lot of doubts and debates in the academic circle,but also created a certain difficulty for its later theoretical interpretation.So,Did Hu Shi’s“this choice”have any special considerations that he had to make for?This paper will try to analyze Hu Shi's pessimistic attitude towards the core of Christian culture,the internal practical requirements of his“vernacular literary view”,the complex evolution process and its own limitations of the translation of the Official Bible.
