Special Features and Rhetoric Principles of Diplomatic Metaphor

外交隐喻作为一种普遍存在的外交话语现象,往往能够对国际关系和外交政策产生潜移默化的影响,因而具有重要的学术价值和现实意义。本文采用修辞学、认知隐喻理论、国际关系学等跨学科研究视角,对外交隐喻的特殊属性、生成机制及构建策略进行了全面考察,并进一步论证了其在政策建构、舆论引导、形象塑造、委婉讽劝、立场宣示等方面的独特功能。外交隐喻的系统性研究有助于创新发展隐喻应用研究的语类范畴,揭示隐喻性外交话语背后的认知运作规律,为我国外交理念的国际传播提供理论借鉴。

As a universal phenomenon in diplomatic discourse, diplomatic metaphor often has a subtle effect on the international relations and foreign policies, and is of great academic and practical significance. This paper adopts the interdisciplinary research perspectives of rhetoric, cognitive metaphor, and international relations to comprehensively examine special features, generative mechanisms, and construction strategies of the diplomatic metaphors, it further demonstrates the unique function of diplomatic metaphors in policy construction, public opinion guidance, national image shaping, diplomatic euphemistic sarcasm as well as position assertion. Through the systematic study of diplomatic metaphors, this paper aims to innovate the genre of metaphor application studies, reveal the cognitive operation rules behind the metaphorical diplomatic discourse, and provide theoretical reference for the international communication of China’s diplomatic ideas.
