The significance of food lies not only in the food itself, but also in the cultural meaning carried by the food.Food choices, eating habits and rituals, who to eat with, and the reasons for the above-mentioned behaviors are one of the foundations for understanding human society and its behaviors. The history of finding food is also the history of social development.Mrs.Rowlandson’s memoir A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs.Mary Rowlandson records a lot of food-related culture of American Indians and European colonists, and narrates the transformation of European colonist’attitude toward Indian culture from resistance to acceptance.
