Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC,the CPC Central Committee’s General Secretary Xi Jinping has given a series of important expositions on the reform and development of higher education in the new era,which mainly include running universities with Chinese characteristics,promoting the "double world-class" university construction,performing the ideological and political task,building important world talent centers and innovation highlands,and expanding the opening-up of higher education. The key connotations of his important expositions include adhering to the following:the path of developing higher education with Chinese characteristics,the speedy construction of a powerful country in higher education,the connotative development of higher education,and the overall leadership of higher education. Led by his important expositions on higher education,China’s higher education has stepped into a "fast track," and has made remarkable achievements:China has built the world’s largest higher education system,showed the quality of higher education with Chinese characteristics,established an increasingly coordinated structure of higher education,and improved the international status of China’s higher education. His important expositions on higher education enrich and develop the theories of socialist education with Chinese characteristics,make a systematic plan for the guidelines for the exploration and innovation of the practice of higher education,clearly point out the orientation to the development of the high-quality higher education system,and give a scientific explanation of the basic position of China’s higher education in the development of the world.
