摘要
《西厢记》翻刻是明末清初的一大文化热潮,“窥简”作为其中极具戏剧张力的一幕,积累了丰富的图像文本资料。本文从叙事的角度,观察一系列“窥简”插图如何处理叙述中的情节时序性问题,如何构造窥视这一特殊的观看模式,如何引起读者的主体性感受。本文还综合考虑刊行中的其他因素,比较读者面对同一情节不同版本插图的解读方式。以“窥简”为例,读者视角下的《西厢记》版画插图作为叙事性图像,在变动不居的语境中呈现出种种差异,因而具有持续的吸引力。
The re-engraving of Romance of the Western Chamber was popular in the cultural circles in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Kuijian, as a scene of dramatic tension, is captured by a wealth of graphic material. This paper looks at the prints from a narrative perspective, at how Kuijian’s series of illustrations deal with the chronology of events in the narrative, at how the particular mode of viewing at a peek is constructed, and at how the readers’ feelings are stimulated. Other factors in the publication are taken into account, and the reader’s interpretation of different versions are compared. As illustrated by the example of Romance of the Western Chamber, the printmaking illustrations of Romance of the Western Chamber rendered from the reader’s point of view, as narrative images differ from version to version in the same context, so they have lasting appeal.
