传统戏曲英译的理论、方法和策略研究

The theoretical,methodological and strategic studies of the English translation of Chinese traditional operas

戏曲是中华文化的瑰宝,加强戏曲英译、推动戏曲外宣是讲好中国故事的内在要求。既往戏曲英译研究较为零散,缺乏理论、方法和策略的凝练。本研究认为:翻译事件理论和翻译传播理论对戏曲翻译有较强的指导性。翻译应该遵循不同的传播意图,侧重戏曲翻译流程中的不同行为,在英译中强调文学性、文化性、故事性、情节性、歌咏性、表演性等不同元素。在翻译策略上,不同戏曲元素下又有不同的细节要素,需要依据戏曲文本、戏曲情节和观剧体验灵活处理。

Operas are gems of Chinese culture and to promote the English translation and global communication of operas is an essential part of telling Chinese story.The former studies concerning the English translations of operas are random and lack systematic,theoretical,methodological and strategic guidance.The present study deems that the event and the communication translation theories can better guide the English translation of operas.The methodology the opera translation ought to follow is according to the different communication purposes,the different events in the translation process and the different factors like literary,cultural,story,plot,singing and reciting,as well as the performing ought to be emphasized.Strategically,the detailed elements should be taken into consideration in accordance with the opera scripts,stories and audience’s experiences.
