“E-sports”and“The Ninth Art”:an Analysis of the Integration and Development of the Eastern and the Western Game Cultures

“电子竞技”与“第九艺术”不同于传统艺术形式,它的诞生以现代科技发展为前提,强调电子游戏的竞技性、游戏性和可探索性。东西方游戏文化融合的“第九艺术”可以给玩家带来多元融合的审美体验和价值观思考,从而释放电子游戏的深层价值。基于此,从东西方游戏文化传统的角度出发,探索东西方电子游戏发展呈现出不同发展样态的原因,并提出加强制度体系建设、增强娱乐功能属性和打造具有中国特色的电子游戏品牌等发展建议。

Unlike traditional artistic forms,“E-sports”and“The Ninth Art”emphasize the competitiveness,playfulness and explorability of electronic games.“The Ninth Art”,which combines the Eastern and the Western game cultures,brings players multiple aesthetic experience and value thinking,communicating the deep value of electronic games.Based on the Eastern and the Western traditions of game culture,the paper analyzes the reasons for the different development status of the Eastern and the Western electronic games and makes such development suggestions as strengthening the construction of systems,improving the recreational functions,and building electronic game brands with Chinese characteristics.
