Pleating has a long history. As early as ancient Greece, rectangular fabrics were used for draping, winding, wearing brooch and strapping on the human body, a garment made of broad pleats draped over the body. To this day, designers like to use pleating on the fabric to create a sense of creativity and culture. The similarities and differences between ancient Greek pleats and modern pleats were expounded. The respective aesthetic characteristics of ancient Greek pleats and modern pleats were summarized. The clothing culture behind them was interpreted. It provided a theoretical basis for modern clothing to make better use of pleating elements and a reference for modern clothing design.
