涉外警务英语对话的语篇分析

Discourse Analysis of Police-Foreigner Conversations

以韩礼德系统功能语法为框架,从情景语境和交际角色两个维度出发,基于话轮转换,就涉外警务英语口头语篇进行研究,发现其在语场、基调和方式方面具有明显职业特殊性、在交际角色方面显现出不对等性,在语言使用上凸显权威、专业和礼貌特征,验证了“形式体现意义”的语篇分析要义。深入了解语篇特点有助于提高警务人员涉外口语表达准确性,为涉外警务英语口语相关研究做出有益探索。

By looking at sample conversations between Chinese police officers and foreigners from the perspectives of context of situation and communication role,this study is conducted within the framework of Hallidayan Systemic Functional Grammar,with the aim to describe the discourse features in the dialogues studied in regard to the expression of specific meanings and conveyance of messages.It is noted that this type of discourse shows outstanding features of being occupation-specific in terms of field,tenor and mode,being unequivalent in communication role,and being authoritative,professional and polite in the use of language,which tests and verifies the gist of discourse analysis as being"embodying meaning in a form".It is also found that tapping into these discourse features may be conducive to the improved accuracy of language use by police officers in conversations with foreigners,and that a new perspective of police-foreigner oral discourse analysis may be given.
