The Exploration of Lin Zeng’s Feats and His Relation with Wang Yangming

漳州龙海人李增,是王阳明巡抚南赣平乱期间的属下部将。通过对李增出生地、仕宦地的多部志书、谱牒及《王阳明全集》的爬梳,梳理其生平,总结其平乱安民、甄别平反冤民、诞敷礼教乐民三大功绩,剖析其与王阳明既为上下级又为师生的双重关系。

Li Zeng,a native of Longhai,Zhangzhou,was one of Wang Yangming’s subordinate officers during the period ofsuppressing the riots in Nangan.Through the review ofthe annals and genealogy of Li Zeng’s birthplace and official locations and The Complete Works of Wang Yangming,this paper sorts out his life,summarizes his three major feats of suppressing the bandits and pacifying the people,redressing the injustice and promoting popular etiquette,and analyzes his dual relations with Wang Yangming as between superiors and subordinates,and teachers and students.
