The Island,the novel by Victoria Hislop,a British writer,created a series of female characters with distinct personalities who dare to love and hate. These female images women represent the personality characteristics of some British women at that time to a certain extent. Interpretation of the female images of The Island has certain significance for the study of female images in British literary works. This paper analyzes the female images in the novel and digs into the characters’ personalities in order to provide a multi-dimensional perspective for the study of British literature.
