Impact of Resource Utilization on High-Quality Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt:Inspection Based on Ecological Footprint

资源可持续利用是全球气候变化和生态环境问题的治理指南,对于区域高质量发展至关重要。该文采用2006-2018年长江经济带108个地级市的面板数据,考察了资源利用程度(以足迹广度与足迹深度度量)对高质量发展的影响。结果表明:1)足迹广度对高质量发展的影响轨迹呈“倒N形”,且存在双门槛效应,即当足迹广度处于(0.2802,0.7997)的门槛内时,有助于区域高质量发展;而足迹深度与高质量发展呈“倒U形”关系,且只有单一门槛效应,具体表现为当足迹深度小于2.5404时,有助于区域高质量发展。2)足迹广度通过产业结构合理化与高级化提升长江经济带高质量发展水平,而足迹深度则通过产业结构合理化实现高质量发展。3)足迹深度增加能在一定程度上促进中、西部地区高质量发展,却不利于东部地区高质量发展。

Sustainable utilization of resources is the guide to governance of global climate change and ecological environment.Therefore,it is essential for high-quality development in key areas of a country′s economic development.Using panel data of 108 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2006 to 2018,this paper examines the impact of resource utilization(measured by ecological footprint breadth and ecological footprint depth)on high-quality development.The results show that:1)The impact trajectory of ecological footprint breadth on high-quality development shows an inverted N-shaped relationship,and there is a double threshold effect.In other words,when the ecological footprint breadth is within the thresholds of(0.2802,0.7997),it is conducive to the high-quality development of the region.However,there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between ecological footprint depth and high-quality development,and there is only a single threshold effect.Specifically,when the ecological footprint depth is less than 2.5404,it is conducive to the high-quality development of the region.2)The ecological footprint breadth promotes the high-quality development level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt through the rationalization and upgrading of industrial structure,while the ecological footprint depth improves the high-quality development through the rationalization of industrial structure.3)The influence of ecological footprint on high-quality development shows significant regional heterogeneity,especially the ecological footprint depth.For the central and western regions,the increase of ecological footprint depth can promote the high-quality development to a certain extent,but it is not conducive to the high-quality development of the eastern region.
