Following the concept of"Imaginaries"in Anderson’s Imagined Communities,Charles Taylor creatively proposed the concept of"Social Imaginaries"with which to expound the emergence,growth and maturation of modern society,and the view that modern social imaginaries are based on the modern moral order in the context of secular time,unfolding in the three fields of economy,public sphere,and people’s autonomy,and anticipating the characteristics of modern society in an imaginal way.Because he exercised his social imagination on the basis of such a conceptual something as moral order,he misunderstood the basic principles of historical materialism.
