In this special issue,we offer three papers:(1)The Question of Academic Freedom:Universal Right or Relative Term by William G.Tierney and Michael Lanford,(2)Academic Freedom:A Global Comparative Approach by Simon Marginson,and(3)The“Beijing Consensus”and the Chinese Model of University Autonomy by Qiang Zha and Ruth Hayhoe.The strength of this special issue is that the authors’arguments are complementary;enriching and adding to each other’s views.
