Another Interpretation of the Spirit of Northwest United University—From the Perspective of Anthems of the Backbone Universities and Northwest United University

西北联大作为战时的大学联合体,其大学精神在很大程度上是对骨干组建校的文化承续。国立北平大学、国立北平师范大学、国立北洋工学院以及国立西北联合大学都以校歌形式彰显了本校的使命追求和文化品格。西北联大精神是时代精神“外铄”和骨干校文化“承续”的共同结果,是“团结御侮的意志、开发西北的使命、赓续文脉的抱负以及勤朴公诚的品格”的西北弦歌的回响。

As a union of universities during the war,the spirit of Northwest United University is to a large extent the cultural continuity of the backbone universities.All of the backbone universities,National Peiping University,National Peiping Normal University,National Beiyang Institute of Technology and National Northwest United University(NUU),highlights their mission and cultural disposition by means of their anthems.The spirit of NUU is the representation of time and result of the“continuation”of the culture of the backbone universities.Up to now,it still echoes the sound of spirits in“the will to unite against the foreign invasion,the mission of developing the northwest of China,the aspiration of ceaseless civilization and being diligent,severe,just and honest”.
