Religion and Objectification of Women:The Tragedy of Small Potatoes in the Wonders of the Present and the Past

《今古奇观》反映了明末涌动的社会思潮,虽然其中表现出了尊情尚性、挣脱束缚的新市民阶层的反抗意识,具有强烈的时代性,但整体上没有摆脱因果宿命论与礼教思想的束缚。根深蒂固的果报、宿命思想,对许多小人物形成了无意识迫害,造成其命运悲剧;礼教下的女性物化和自我物化则是造成女性小人物悲剧的主要原因。

The Wonders of the Present and the Past reflects the social trend of thought surging in the late Ming Dynasty.Although it shows the resistance consciousness of the new citizen class who respected the feelings and broke free from the shackles,it has strong characteristics of the times,but on the whole,it does not get rid of the shackles of causal fatalism and ethical thought.The deep-rooted thoughts of retribution and destiny have unconsciously persecuted many small potatoes,resulting in their tragic fate.The female objectification and self-objectification under the ethical code are the main reasons for the tragedy of the female nobodies.
