From“Containing Contact”to“Containing Competition”:The Nature of Sino-US Trade Friction and China’s Response

当今世界正经历百年未有之大变局,我国面临着复杂多变的内部和外部环境。中美贸易摩擦是美国对华战略由“遏制接触”到“遏制竞争”深刻转变的产物,其本质是双方战略竞争下的实力科技、制度道路、话语地位以及价值观之争。面对中美贸易摩擦,中国应坚持和发展中国特色社会主义、坚持党的领导,认清美国霸权主义行径表象后的资本主义的本质属性,明晰贸易冲突长期化、复杂化、尖锐化的发展态势,以更大魄力推进更高水平的全面开放以应对冲突中的艰难险阻。

Today’s world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century,and China is facing a complex and changeable internal and external environment.Sino-US trade friction is the product of the profound transformation of the US strategy towards China from“Containing Contact”to“Containing Competition”.Its essence is the competition of strength,science and technology,institutional path,discourse status and values under the strategic competition between the two sides.In the face of Sino-US trade frictions,China should uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics,adhere to the leadership of the Party,recognize the essential attributes of capitalism behind the appearance of US hegemony,clarify the development of longterm,complex and sharp trade conflicts,as well as promote higher levels of fully openness to cope with difficulties and obstacles in the conflict.
