GEOPOLITICAL DETERMINANTS OF FOOD SECURITY:AN INTERDISCIPLINARY CONTRIBUTION.According to the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture(FAO)food security exists when all people,at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. The 2014 report on world food insecurity estimates that about 805 million people are chronically hungry,i.e.one in nine persons worldwide, and generally around 2 billion suffer from the lack of nutrients or have“hidden hunger”.Agricultural growth in general and advances in science and food technology in particular are needed to reduce hunger and malnutrition, but are not enough. In this sense it should be integrated into the design of local policies the broad set of macro-level variables that could respond to the geopolitical challenges facing the world in agri food issues, thus enabling better conditions for social inclusion.
