基于“三美原则”看唐诗中叠词的运用——以《大中华文库:汉英对照--李白诗选》为例

Use of ReduplicatedWords in Tang Poems Based on"Three Principle of Beauty"-A Case Study of Library of Chinese Classics:Chinese-English-Selected Poems of Li Bai

叠词作为传统诗歌创作的重要艺术手法,其使用可以让诗文更具意向美、音韵美、表达美;而英语中为避免用词重复,很少连续用两个一样的词。因而如何在英语中再现唐诗叠词原本的美学特征,对于译者来说是一大挑战。以许渊冲教授的“三美原则”为基础,分析许译《大中华文库:汉英对照——李白诗选》中的叠词翻译方法,以期推动业界对唐诗叠词翻译的关注。

As an important artistic technique in the creation of traditional poem,the reduplicated words can make poems more beautiful in terms of intention,rhyme and expression.However,in order to avoid word repetition,English rarely uses two identical words consecutively.Therefore,how to reproduce the original aesthetic features of Tang poems reduplicated words in English is a big challenge for translators.Based on professor Xu Yuanchong's"Three Principle of Beauty",this paper analyzes the translation methods of redu-plicated words in Xu Translation Library of Chinese Classics:Chinese-English-Selected Poems of Li Bai,in order to promote the attention on the translation of Tang poems reduplicated words.
