Compared with northern dialects,southern dialects are likely to render readers beyond the very dialectal regions“resistant”when they are adopted into literary works.WANG Anyi uses“aphasia of the South”to summarize this literary phenomenon.JIAN Zheng is a writer of prose in Tainwan,whose ancestral home is Zhangzhou City,Fujian Province.Her works are diverse and on a wide range of subject matters.The essay collection Moonlight on Sleeping Bed shows a strong local flavor and has distinctive southern Fujian dialect characteristics.The linguistic characteristics of the collection were analyzed for a glimpse of the ways and techniques in which southern Fujian dialects are adopted into prose.And how southern dialects are used in literary creation was explored.
