Mary Lemist Titcomb is an outstanding figure in American library history in the 20th century.She is dedicated to promoting the construction of county libraries in the United States and has made remarkable contributions to American libraries.On the one hand,during the period of being the head librarian of Washington county free library,Mary set up book deposit stations,creatively put forward a conception“Book Wagon”and put them into practice,she has built a systematic and complete basic library system,achieved the dot-line connection from the central library to the rural library and provided a wealth of experience for the construction of mobile libraries in the future.On the other hand,Mary has fully studied the issues related to the operation of the library,actively participated in the working meetings of the Library Association and delivered speeches,and put forward the training plan for librarians,the book transportation plan and other theories.These ideas have always had a great influence up to now.
