《吃一碗茶》是一部反映20世纪中国移民在美国生活的作品,其在美国华裔文学中有其重要的地位。现有研究主要集中在美国单身汉社会的主人公,对于仍然生活在国内的人物研究较少,《吃一碗茶》中留守在乡村的妇女们面对丈夫在外,独自支撑家庭生活的现实,留守妇女“金山妇”的形象渊源与生存困境成为时代的代表,揭露华人移民进程中农村留守妇女的辛酸和困境。

Eat a Bowl of Tea is a novel reflecting the life of Chinese immigrants in the United States in the last century,and it plays an important role in Chinese American literature.The present research mainly focuses on the protagonist,which is in the American bachelor society,but there is little research on the characters who still live in China.In Eat a Bowl of Tea,the rural left-behind women have to face the reality of supporting the family alone with their husbands working outside.For the left-behind women“Jinshan Women”,their image origin and survival predicament,a representative of the times,expose the bitterness and predicament of the rural left-behind women in the process of Chinese immigration.
