This interpretation holds that “evidence of evidence is evidence” expresses the transitivity of evidential support. Around the transitive interpretation, the academic circle has launched a fierce debate. These controversies reflect that in order to answer the question of “whether evidence of evidence is evidence or not”, we should clarify the definition of evidential support. By combining the explanatory approach of evidential support and the causal approach of explanation, the causal approach of evidential support can be given. Based on the causal approach, the transitive interpretation is revised again. This new modified version not only helps to eliminate counter examples but also has important enlightening value.
