清末民初的盘江兴义有滇黔桂“三省通衢”之称,战略区位极为凸显,但该地地理位置偏远,山高谷深,社会无序,人心惶恐。就是在这样一个不可思议的边城之地,却诞生了黔省乃至中国教育史上的一朵奇葩——笔山书院。笔山书院培养出一大批在中国近代史上产生重大影响的栋梁之材,其之所以能够成为黔省盘江八属近代教育崛起的标志,乃至中国近代教育的一颗璀璨明珠,与当时中国大环境和黔西南区域小环境的影响以及当地多重文化的交叉辐射密切相关,也与笔山书院独树一帜的教育理念、教学方法、管理模式以及书院精神和书院文化的培植与滋养分不开。

Xingyi of Panjiang in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China was known as"Thoroughfare of Three Provinces"among Yunnan,Guizhou and Guangxi,and its strategic location is extremely prominent.However,it locates in remote area,hidden in high mountains and deep valleys where society was in disorder and people there were haunted by fear.It was in such an unexpected border town that Bishan Academy was built,as a wonderful flower in the history of education in Guizhou Province and even China.Bishan Academy has cultivated a large number of great talents who have exerted great influence in the modern history of China.The reason why it can become a symbol of the rise of modern education in Panjiang of Guizhou Province and even a bright star of modern education in China inseparable from not only the influence of the context in China and the environment in Southwest Guizhou,the interaction and mutual influences of local multiple cultures,but also the unique educational philosophy,teaching methods,management mode and the cultivation and nourishment by the academy spirit and academy culture.
