Improving Quality and Increasing Efficiency:The Improvement of the Admissions Mechanism of International Students at the Colleges and Universities in China

为打造“留学中国”品牌,完善高校来华留学生的招生机制不仅必要且迫在眉睫。基于美英高校在招收国际生方面的经验,结合我国实际和政策要求,提出提升来华留学生生源质量的路径:(1)优化招生理念,实施趋同管理;(2)紧扣培养目标,建立基于多重潜能考查的择优录取标准;(3)推广升级版“申请-审核”制,开展以学力水平考察为重心的综合评价;(4)学术权威把关审核过程,提升专业招生力;(5)提升招生宣传实效,吸引优质生源。

In order to build the brand of“Studying in China”,it is necessary and urgent to improve the admissions mechanism for international students at the colleges and universities in China.Based on the relevant experiences from the United States and the United Kingdom in recruiting international students,combined with China’s actual situation and policy requirements,the paper proposes the following approaches to improve the quality of international college students in China:optimizing the admission concept and implementing convergence management;using multiple means to improve the effectiveness of admissions publicity and striving to attract high-quality students;adhering to the training objectives and establishing the selection criteria based on multiple potential examinations;using academic ability reflected in the scores of academic proficiency test as a baseline and assessing the performance holistically;adopting the apply-review mode widely and improving the professional admissions ability.
