This paper introduces the types of lightning that can damage communication base stations,analyses how lightning can invade communication base stations from four aspects:base station towers,overhead pipelines,lightning electromagnetism and base station rooms,and studies lightning protection techniques for mobile communication base stations.Therefore the understanding of lightning and the study of lightning protection technology is particularly important to ensure the normal use of mobile communication base stations.
