The emigrant myth is interpreted in the context of the Russian diaspora culture. It can be found that the Harbin myth is closely related to the space semiotics. In its development the Petersburg myth based on the oppositions“creation-destruction”and“past-present”acts as an ontological model that allows structuring the cultural space of Harbin.Harbin, which has been internalized as“lost homeland”,has a kind of timelessness in the world picture of emigrants. In essence, this myth is the construction of discourse“Russianness”and the manifestation of cultural identity in the opposition of“the other”.
