Based on the plague in Northeast China from 1910 to 1911,White Snow and Black Crow, written by the writer Chi Zijian,is about the everyday lives of Fujiadian people during the epidemic period, the focused narrative style of daily life history shows vividly the connection between plague and human beings.Chi Zijian focuses on the gender anxiety in China’s transition to modernization through the contradictions of several couples. The gender writing art of White Snow and Black Crow, which uses metaphor and contrast, implies that women at that time questioned and reflected on the traditional gender order, and men lost and alienated in the patriarchal society. In fact,it reflects the“suppressed modernization”in the process of female consciousness awakening.
